Jessie Monk is an avant-folk artist from GunaiKurnai land based between Berlin and Naarm. She began busking as a child in Portarlington at the National Celtic Folk Festival playing tin whistle outside tents. Today she is a leading voice in contemporary folk blending Celtic and Appalachian traditions with experimental performance and theatrical physicality. Her album Mis O’ The Mountains was a finalist for the AFMA 2025 Contemporary Folk Album of the Year. Her music explores myth and modernity through lyricism improvisation and sonic experimentation. She has toured Europe and the UK and been featured on BBC Radio 3 Triple J ABC Country.
